Bama House

One of my best friends, Kel, sent this link to me this evening and, well, all you really have to do is watch it and I think the video speaks for itself...

BAMA HOUSE

Now, a few differences between their household in North Carolina and our household in a yet to be determined city:

1. We will not be that civilized or proper to one another. I'm pretty sure there will be curse words and feet flying at one another. And, I will win of course.

2. The child (or children) will wear Alabama apparel...ONLY. I don't care if I'm at work or the grocery store. I will hire a person to specifically prevent any obscene clothing (i.e. Auburn apparel) to come near my child's body. And, yes, I will always win at this. Michael, this is how it will go down.

3. We are a much hotter couple.

4. The passion that couple shows for The University of Alabama and that other school in the cow fields in Alabama has no comparison for the passion me and Michael share for our schools.

5. If you watched the Iron Bowl with me and Michael this past season, then you got a glimpse of what it will be like in our household during college football season. I'm sure I made the devil blush with some of the things that came out of my mouth. Only some of our closest friends watched the game with us this year and they saw first hand how passionate and how deep college football is ingrained in our lives.

6. Pretty damn good video.

7. Alabama onesies and Alabama baby football jersies are already being collected on Andrea Boohaker's future children's behalf. Onesies are awesome.

8. Roll Tide

Hope you liked the video as much as I did. What a perfect way to bring in the weekend!

As for my weekend, well, tomorrow night can be summed up in one word...greatness. I have the absolute privilege of hanging out with some of the most amazing people I've met. Yes, tomorrow is officially Girl's Night in Houston, Texas and I hope this big ass state is ready for us. I can't wait.

See you guys on the flip side.

Gone too soon

I was sitting at dinner last night and heard the news of Heath Ledger's passing and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Right at this moment, I still can't fathom it. I was reading all of the articles trying to understand it and I came across this picture, which gave me a knot in my stomach.

I am surrounded by death every day at the hospital and I feel as if I have become desensitized to it just so I can make it through the day. But, I'm not quite sure what hit me when I heard about Heath Ledger. It almost feels as if I personally knew him. I guess what scares me the most is how young he was and the fact that he was taking sleeping pills that half of America takes on a daily basis to help them sleep.

He was definitely one of those actors who shied away from the spotlight and tried to do things his way. On the heels of the Democratic and Republican debates where we are bitching and complaining about who voted for what bill and who is going make America's economy better again, Heath Ledger's death reverberated on every newscast nationwide. It should make us all spin our head and start putting everything back into perspective. Politically, I wish all of those candidates would start shutting their mouths, stop demeaning one another and start listening and observing to what is really happening to this country.

The future of this country are using drugs at an astronomical rate and experimenting with new concoctions without knowing what it will do to their bodies and their minds. There should be something done about that. There should be discussion about reckless driving and forcing states with no-helmet laws to reverse it and start make people accountable for their stupid actions; then, maybe, this country will begin to fear God and start worrying about the future of their soul.

Sometimes, it scares me to death to picture myself trying to raise children in a world where they are constantly surrounded by illicit and highly addictive prescriptive drugs. This entire world is heading in a direction that I am not proud of; where suicide bombers are being born at the age of 5 and stabbing your husband/wife is becoming a daily occurrence. I pray for my soul and for God to have mercy on it once I finally get to meet Him, and I pray that he has mercy on this country because if I were Him, I would be pissed off.

Mississippi Boy

How can you not love this Mississippi born and bred QB? Damn you, Eli.

I don't care what you have to say about the Deep South, but they sure as hell know how to breed some good looking men.

The only way Eli can redeem himself is by not sucking in the Super Bowl and beating pretty boy Tom Brady with or without his walking boot.

Snow in Alabama???

Maybe this is just a little pet peeve of mine, but I think it is a well known fact that southerners do not handle the threat of or the actual appearance of snow. This is not a fact that I am too proud of. The mass hysteria that ensues once the words "possibility of snow" leave the mouth of the meteorologists is quite embarassing. The absence of bread, milk, and bottled water at every grocery store within a 50 mile radius of my house is unacceptable. Of course, most of the southern states are not equipped to deal with harsh winter weather; but, the absolute craziness that occurs when flurries are mentioned is ridiculous.

A few days ago, meteorologists in Alabama committed a grave sin when they mentioned the possibility of snow hitting the Heart of Dixie. Oh lawd.

Let the domino effect start. That broadcast was followed by 26 phone calls by the maternal parental unit in my life discussing how many trips to the grocery store she will have to make to prepare for this "catastrophic event" heading towards Bama. Well, the Heart of Dixie was hit with a whopping....0.5 inches of snow. Somebody better call the government and ask for some federal aid to help with the damage.

Dear fellow Alabamians, stop building snowmen out of snowflakes that will melt in approximately 2 seconds following their arrival to Earth. It is not acceptable to clear out grocery stores over any mention of snow. Hold back the urge load down your car with extra weight or put chains on your tires to prevent sliding on the roads. Continue about your regularly scheduled day as if a simple rain storm was passing through the great city of Birmingham. And refrain from clogging up the phone lines to notify all your family members of your whereabouts during your escapades to successfully clear out bread, milk, and bottled water supplies. Please represent my home state better than this.

Hugs and Kisses. Boo

A little bit of recall...

Since getting back to Texas from the holidays, things have somewhat been in fast forward. Me and The fiance are nearing the 6 month mark on our timeline and I have numerous things on my list to check off. As for that elusive dress of mine, well, let's just say it is no longer elusive ;)

From the holidays, one of my best friends sent me a couple of pictures from a yearly reunion I have with all of my softball teammates. I sure do miss these girls:

And, of course, I couldn't leave the party without a picture with other women in my family;)

As for Christmas with the family, here are just a few pictures of the Boohaker shenanigans down in Sweet Home Alabama

Ah, the brother:

Mom and the Bro on Christmas morning. I absolutely love this picture. I think the bow is absolute perfection.

Christmas lunch with my brother, cousin and uncle. Yes, they're from Florida. How did you know?

Finally, with my amazing cousin.

My posts have been lacking as of late; just been super busy at work and with the wedding. But, things are starting to slow down a bit and a lot has been done with the wedding/reception/rest of my life;)

Can't wait to see everyone in about 6 months. I just hope you're ready.

Happy Wednesday.

2008?

So, here we go. The start of a new year. 2008. Can you believe that? 200...8? I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that this world has made it to 2008.

Of course, as with every new year comes new year's resolutions. Note to the public: don't waste your time. It absolutely baffles me that each year will come and go and 99% of new year's resolutions were either abandoned the first week of January or people got bored around May with their goal and reverted back into their old ways. I strongly believe if you don't put a label/goal on your resolution and you sincerely want to make a change in your life, then you are more than likely going to follow through with your decision.

Alright, enough about New Year' resolutions.

So, this is officially the year of my wedding. I'm still trying to get used to the idea ;) In about 6 months from now, parties and showers will consume my life and I will be waiting with open arms. In about 6 months, I will get to see my entire family from Lebanon and have the opportunity to celebrate one of the most important events in my life with them. And in about 6 months, I get to marry my best friend and the love my life. Until then, I am going to have a blast planning this huge celebration and spending time with my family.

As for documentation of Christmas debauchery, it will be posted soon. I hope all of you have a fantastic New Year's Day and a great beginning to 2008.
