holy shit. it's been way too long. let me catch you up...
survived hurricane ike. returned to houston after evacuating to nashville to find the city of houston in pieces. lived without power for one week. during this time, we were in the process of buying a house.
i love my job...everything about it makes me happy. it's not one of those boring jobs. it's one of those jobs that i feel like i leave smarter every day and i feel like i make someone's life better every single day i go to work. i work in the busiest trauma center in the country, so i get to see the worst of the worst injuries and learn how to treat them. there isn't a single fracture that is the same as the previous one and that is what amazes me more than anything. i work with some incredible people. you never really realize how important all of those nurses are until you need them. and, there is no doubt, there is a major nursing shortage in this country and it worries me. i am scared for the health of this country and the direction we are headed when it comes to healthcare. there is not enough attention being given or enough money being raised to employ more and more nurses in America's hospitals. if only we used a third of the money raised during the campaign towards the recruitment of nurses, the end to the shortage crisis would become much more apparent. anyhow, i love my job and i couldn't be luckier.
following ike and packing up the entire apartment, me and the wonderful hubby bought our first home on october 1st. i will post pictures soon. ever since then, it has pretty much consumed both of our lives. we have been working to furnish it and, i have to tell you, i could not be happier. the parentals came to visit, which was fabulous. they got to help us with the new house and we got to spend an awesome weekend with them.
during all of this, my beloved crimson tide has remained unbeaten and currently hails as the #2 team in the country. all the while, auburn has shown it's true colors. also, my alma mater, vanderbilt, has had a tremendous start to their season; only one win away from becoming bowl eligible. and, you can bet your ass, i will be at that bowl game.
wow. a lot has happened over the past couple of months since the wedding. thanksgiving, christmas, etc. is fast approaching and i'm looking forward to hanging out as much as possible with family and the hubby.
hope you are all well. roll tide.
